Last Friday night's loss to Shelby is now in the past, and the Clear Fork Colts are looking to move forward and get back on track. Clear Fork has only had to play one game after a loss so far this season but handled it nicely. After a week three loss to Lex, the Colts defeated Ontario the next week after forcing six turnovers in the 14-10 week four win.
Coincidentally, that game against Ontario was at home and this Friday night the Colts will again look to bounce back at home against the Highland Fighting Scots. Friday night is also the 2025 edition of Senior Night in the Valley. Highland comes into this matchup having lost its last three games to Shelby, Galion, and River Valley. In that span, the Scots were outscored 97-6, which sets up a tremendous opportunity for the Colts to refocus and play their style of football. Highland does have two victories against Coshocton and Marion Harding.
One matchup to watch this week on the field is the Clear Fork offensive line vs Highland's defense. The best way to bounce back and get into the win column again is to create ways for the run game to thrive against the Scots. Dual-threat quarterback Marcus Hoeflich will also look to pick apart the Highland defense, which has given up the most passing yards in the MOAC, and the most passing touchdowns with 12. Confidence is key for a team coming off a loss to the top-ranked team in D4. Clear Fork junior Trey Sellers confirmed that the team is ready to move forward and not let the loss get to them, “Big bounce-back week coming for the Colts.”
Unbelievably, the final regular season home game is already upon us. Hopefully, it won't be the last game in the Valley this year as Clear Fork currently sits in the 5th playoff spot in a scenario where the 5-8 seeds will host the first round game of the playoffs this year. The top four team will get a bye in week 11.
It’s amazing how far this senior class has come over the past three seasons, and the locker room culture that has developed with this group. Aaron Brokaw continues to bring the nostalgia and integrity back to the storied Colts Football program. These seniors have certainly created a lot of good memories for themselves and the community over their four years, and it's been a great final season to this point.
You can listen to Friday’s game on vsbnradio.com, with Coach Brokaw joining the broadcast at 6:40 PM.
